Build Sequence

Seven steps from fiber to finished boat.

Every Cape Cat is laid up by hand and finished in seven steps. We take you through the shop at two waypoints — lamination and post-cure — and send photo updates in between.

Plug & tooling

CNC-cut plug, faired and polished to a mirror before tooling. Every hull that comes after inherits this surface.

Layup

Twill carbon in a vacuum bag, laid up over a foam core. Biax reinforcements at every load path.

Post-cure

Eight hours at 176 °F drives off residual solvents and cross-links the epoxy. The laminate you end up with is tougher than what came out of the bag.

Fit-out

Cleats, padeyes, rubrail, sole. Every piece of hardware is 316 stainless; every fastener is bedded in Sikaflex.

Optional upgrades

Optional upgrades such as SeaDek, non-skid, bench seat, console, etc.

Sea trial

Every hull is run before it leaves the shop. We log max speed, cruise, and trim — you get the numbers for your hull.

Hand-off

We offer domestic and international delivery through secure, crated shipping. For in-person deliveries within Florida, we will personally deliver the vessel, coordinate the handoff, and provide a complimentary sea trial at the time of delivery.

Kept forever.

Hypalon and PVC inflatables last eight years at best. Roto-molded dinghies crack and hit the landfill in five. A carbon-epoxy Cape Cat, maintained minimally, outlives its owner.
